Studied Philosophy, German and Romance languages and literature in Leipzig and Paris. Works as a freelance cultural journalist with a focus on theatre and an emphasis on theatre policies. Herwig Lewy is specialized in cultural policies in international relations. Policy analysis for the ITI (International Theatre Institute)–Germany on the effect of the UNESCO-convention for cultural diversity and intercultural exchange in the performing arts. He is currently an individual member of the Arts Rights Justice working group under the framework of Culture Action Europe (CAE).
